The Cupcakes You Didn’t See | IcedGems Creations | Reisterstown, MD

As I mentioned in yesterdays post, the Crusaders and I have tried just about every flavor that IcedGems Creations has offered in the past few months. We listed our favorites for you, but here are some you haven’t seen yet:

Ban-offee

(While the coffee flavor in this was too subtle for me, the natural banana flavor was spot on.)

Bear Claw

(This cupcake was very close to making my “must try” list. The cake reminds me of the bear claws my Dad used to make at the doughnut shop he owned when I was a kid.)

Caramel Apple

(Sweet and decadent, this cupcake truly lives up to its name. The icing alone makes this cupcake a smart purchase.)

Chocolate Cherry

(This rich chocolate cake was given an interesting cherry twist.)

Italian Wedding Cake

(Mascarpone filling with an almond flavor = delicious.)

Raspberry Lemonade

(With a light lemon flavor and a sweet raspberry icing, this adorable cupcake is as sweet as it is cute.)

Rosewater

(While I am not afraid of eating flowers (or baking with them) this cupcake was a bit too “rosey” for me.)

Smores

(Not quite enough marshmallow flavor for me, but still a great chocolate cupcake.)

Strawberry Cheesecake

(Not the typical “mini-cheesecake in a cupcake cup” this is truly a cake with cheesecake flavor and fantastic icing to top it all off!)

Have you been to IcedGems Creations (either the store front or visited the cupcake truck)? What are your favorite flavors? Are there any the Crusaders have not tried that you think we should?

  1. FYI.. Banoffee flavor is not supposed to taste like coffee! It is an traditionally an english pastry dessert made of bananas, cream and toffee šŸ™‚ Not sure if it was a typo or not but wanted to let you know! Toffee not coffee!! šŸ™‚

    • Hi “Cupcake Lover!” I’ve forwarded your comment to Elisa so she can clarify. Unfortunately I wasn’t lucky enough to try this flavor (I’ve been eying it up for a while now though…) šŸ˜‰

  2. I absolutely love Icedgems! I’ve been to both the truck and the store and both are amazing. My all time favorites are the turtle, caramel apple and lemon tang. I can’t recall if you crusaders have reviewed the turtle or lemon tang before but they are a must try! Unfortunately, I have taken an Icedgem hiatus until after my upcoming vacation to hawaii but I can’t wait until I can visit the “happiness truck” again šŸ™‚

    • I’ve tried the Turtle before, but unfortunately I think it was an “off” day for Icedgems becuase it was on the dry side. But I also love the Caramel Apple (It’s one of my favs) and the Lemon Tang sounds amazing! I’ll have to keep my eye out for that one. Thanks!

      • I’ve had the Turtle cake be a little dry for me a couple of times, but the creamy swirled frosting (my favorite part) always makes up for a not-so-perfect cake : ) The Lemon Tang is a delicious lemon cake topped with lemon (buttercream?) frosting and topped with a lemonhead. I’m usually a vanilla cake person but the lemon cake is fantastic!

  3. I recently had a Lemon Poppyseed cupcake from IcedGems. I love lemon and it has to be done right. The cupcake had authentic lemon flavor, not too sweet and not too tart. It’s one of the best one’s I’ve had from IcedGems, and I definitely recommend trying it! I’ve always loved lemon poppyseed muffins, and the cupcake version was even better.

    • That sounds great! I’ll have to keep an eye out for that flavor. We should be posting another IcedGems review soon. I tried their Neapolitan cupcake and it was amazing! I also finally got to try their Strawberry Cheesecake and French Toast (Crusader Elisa always raved about that one, I think it’s her favorite). I was hoping to stop by and get some cupcakes from the Gathering tonight, but unfortunately it’s been canceled due to the chance of severe weather. 😦

    • Hi Pam, I don’t believe any of us have tried the Gluten Free (I know I haven’t personally). Have you tried Sweet Sin/Sweet 27 yet? They are an entirely gluten free bakery and cafe. Their Chocolate Raspberry is my favorite and I just recently tried some of their fall flavors.
